age 96 1/2 of Middleburg Heights, passed away peacefully at home on February 11, 2024.
Rudolph is preceded in death by Maria (nee Novak), his beloved wife of 64 years.
Devoted Father of Frank (Monica-deceased), and Sonja.
Cherished Grandfather of Karina, Frank (Chelsea), and Eric. Great Grandfather of 5.
Uncle to many nieces and nephews and a friend to many.
Member of VFW Post 6676 in Berea.
Rudy proudly served with the 2nd Infantry Division in Korea 51/52 and spent 9 months on the front line.
Upon returning, he worked as a merchant mariner. In 1955 while he was in Trieste Italy he visited his mom’s village and fell in Love with a local farm girl named Maria. They soon married and moved to Cleveland in June of 1956. Rudy found employment with United Airlines and remained there for 38 years. He was active in the Slovenian Community where he enjoyed, dancing, Polka music, and playing his button box.
The family would like to thank Southwest Hospice for their compassion and professionalism during his last days.
The family will receive friends in celebration of Rudolph’s life at Humenik Funeral Chapel 14200 Snow Rd Brook Park, 44142 on Wednesday, February 14 from 6-8 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St.Vitus Church 6019 Lausche Ave. Cleveland Ohio 44103 on Thursday at 11:00 AM. For those who wish, you may begin arriving on Thursday at 10:15 for a short visitation prior to Mass. Everyone, Please meet at Church.
