Nellie Kathryn (Jacobus) Cooper, age 92 of Brook Park, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2026.
Nellie is preceded in death by George, her beloved husband of 54 years. She was a devoted mother (and mother-in-law) of William Cooper (deceased), Timothy (Anita) Cooper, and Christopher (Lynda) Cooper.
A farmer’s daughter named after her mother, and affectionately known to everyone as “Sis,” she was preceded in death by her siblings: Walter (Frances) Jacobus, Margaret (Peter) Patrick, Jeanette (Frank) Thomas, James (Elaine) Jacobus, and John Jacobus (survived by his wife, Joyce). She was a cherished Grandmother of Owen Cooper, Alicia Coleman, and Ella Gill.
Aunt Sis to her many nieces and nephews, and a friend and neighbor to many, Nellie enjoyed helping others, gardening and canning, Donut Thursdays, Cleveland baseball, and a beer with dinner. She had a long career with National City Bank, beginning as a keypunch operator at the Operations Center on W. 150th Street and retiring from the corporate offices in downtown Cleveland. No one worked harder to provide a good life for her family.
Those who wish to remember Nellie can do so by making a donation to Akron Children’s Hospital. The family will be holding a Celebration of Life at a later date.
