Bender, Michael Americus, age 73 of Brook Park, originally from Carrolltown, PA, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2014. Michael is survived in life by Maxine Theresa (nee Kirsch), his beloved wife of 41 years; Preceded in death by his parents Felix and Cecilia; Loving dad of Michele (Trevor) Hunt and Jennifer (Scott) Phillips; Cherished brother of Mary Lou (Ellis “Bud” deceased) Smith, Joseph John (Louise deceased), Anna (Richard deceased) Sheehan, Richard, twin brother Thomas (Karen deceased), Clare (Sam) Armstrong and Leo (Dorothy) both deceased; Devoted grampy of Alexandra, Isabelle, James, Celine, Madison and Brayden; Respected brother-in-law to Sister Celine, Shirley (Chuck deceased) McNulty, Marjorie (Paul) Smego, Ronald (Rita), Reginald (Betty), Zelda (Tom) Ochocki, Father Myron and Marilyn (Frank) Cronin; Fun uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Veteran U.S. Army – Vietnam War, Member of VFW Post 3345 Strongsville and American Legion Post 506 Carrolltown, PA.

The family will receive friends in celebration of Michael’s life at Humenik Funeral Chapel, 14200 Snow Rd, Brook Park, on Sunday November 16, 2014 from 1-5PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Bridget of Kildare, 5620 Hausermann Rd., Parma on Monday at 10AM. Interment at Arlington National Cemetery. For those who wish, the family suggests contributions be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517 Topeka, Kansas 66675.
