age 91, of Cleveland, OH passed away on October 13, 2025. Born March 16, 1934 in Clarence, PA to Andrew and Susan (Basalla) Kachik, she was the sister of Pauline Millard and George Kachik, and of the late Helen Pavlik, Andrew Kachik, and John Kachik. Loving wife of Frank Greenland for 72 years. Beloved mother of Teresa Mazzolini (Ron), Mary Victor (Bill), Frank Greenland (Adrienne), Sue Kriz (Kenny), Carol Greenland, and Michael Greenland (Sue). Beloved grandmother of Nikki Fife (Jon), Melanie Miller (Kyle), Matt Mazzolini (Valerie), Chris Moore (Jenn Brugge), Kim Victor, Gabe Kriz (Julie), Laura Friebel (Curtis), Josh Victor (Ivey Mannah), Hannah Greenland, Emily Greenland, Fiona Greenland, and Nathan Greenland. Beloved great-grandmother of Lydia and Everett Miller, Delaney and Edison Fife, Lucy and Charlie Victor, Leo Mazzolini, and Cindy Kriz. She consistently taught the value and importance of family to all.
Her normal childhood was interrupted when her father’s illness brought about the difficult but necessary decision for her to leave school to support her family, working as a housekeeper and at a local store. After Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve 1951, she met Frank Greenland at a friend’s party. That chance encounter led to love, and to their wedding on October 3, 1953 in Clarence, PA. They moved to Corning, NY, where Frank was working. A couple of years later, Mary Jane’s godparents convinced her and Frank to move to Cleveland, OH, where her godparents lived. In 1962, Frank and Mary Jane bought the house in which they would raise their six children. The house was small, but they made it work, and she filled it with love and devotion to family. As her children grew, she went back to work as a teacher’s aide for the Cleveland Board of Education at Annunciation School. She was also a regular volunteer at both the school and Annunciation Church. She spent years volunteering as a tutor with the Seeds of Literacy program, teaching people to read despite not having graduated from high school herself. Through it all, she was an active and caring mother and grandmother. The lives she touched through all her endeavors are immeasurable.
