MARIA PIVIK age 83 of Middleburg Hts., passed away peacefully February 28, 2020 while surrounded by family. Maria was the beloved daughter of the late Joze and Ivanka Novak born January 30, 1937 in Idrija, Slovenia. As a young child she knew the horrors of war, and throughout her life she promoted peace and harmony amongst her friends and colleagues. Maria had a passion for music and singing. She was active in many Fraternal organizations. Maria was also actively involved in numerous Slovenian choirs singing and teaching melodies of her home land. She had a love for cooking and baking and sharing her culinary skills with friends and neighbors. She especially loved baking all the ethnic Slovenian pastries. Maria retired from United Airlines Flight Kitchen after 23 years of faithful service. She is survived in life by Rudy, her beloved husband of 65 years. Devoted mother of Frank (Monica-deceased), and Sonja. Caring sister of 11 brothers and sisters. Loving Grandmother of Karina, Frank, and Eric (Deshone). Great Grandmother of Eric, Faith, and Mariah. Aunt to many nieces and nephews and friend to many.
The family will receive friends in celebration of Maria’s life at Humenik Funeral Chapel 14200 Snow Rd Brook Park, 44142 on Monday March 02, 2020 from 6-8 PM, Tuesday from 10-11 AM at St Vitas Church 6019 Lausche Ave, Cleveland, OH 44103 where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM. Everyone please meet at church.
