age 76, of Middleburg Heights, Ohio, passed away with family at her bedside on February 9, 2023 after an extended illness. Lauren was the cherished wife of 56 years to Joe R. Shur. Loving mother of Sonja (David) and Joshua (Heather). Devoted grandmother of Jessica (Oliver), Kevin (Maddie), Trevor, Trista, Audrey, Ava, and Ella. Proud great-grandmother of Hannah and Connor. Daughter of the late Detective Jack F. and Muriel (Johansen) Dean. Dear sister of Deborah (Gary) Johnson of Kyle, Texas.

Lauren was a high-honor graduate of The Andrews School for Girls. She was previously employed as an Executive Secretary at Central National Bank, a Legal Secretary at a major Cleveland law firm, and a Data Processor at Parma Community General Hospital.

Lauren loved her family deeply and treasured all the precious moments with her children and grandchildren. She took great joy in being a pet owner, which was clearly evident by the many dogs she brought home over the years. She was an avid reader and a terrific cook. Because she appreciated the value of a photograph, she thankfully became the family photographer. Throughout the years, she delighted in many trips with her husband, both home and abroad. She especially looked forward to the annual summer vacation with her family to Hilton Head Island. Lauren was a woman of deep faith, and she volunteered her time and talent by cooking meals for the church, making rosaries, and teaching religion class to the parish children. She was fond of throwing parties and entertaining her family and friends. She also enjoyed crocheting afghans, decorating her home, beautifying her yard with flowers, and relaxing near her backyard pond.

Funeral Mass Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at 12:15 PM St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, 14865 Bagley Road, Middleburg Heights, Ohio. Entombment Holy Cross Cemetery (Holy Family Mausoleum), 14609 Brookpark Road, Brook Park, Ohio.
