Kenneth Joseph Baumeister, age 84, of Strongsville, peacefully passed away surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, September 1, 2019. He is preceded in death by his late wife, Mary (nee Reitz), brother, Pete Baumeister and sister, Sylvia Moody. Ken is survived by his loving wife Anna (nee Kanizsai) and his children Deborah (Bismarck) Newman, Joseph (Jennifer), Rose (James) French, Paul (Jackeline), and Jaclyn (Joseph) Babin. He leaves behind seven grandchildren, Nichole (Lucas) Ripley, Leslie Baumeister, Bismarck Newman, Bradley Baumeister, Jack Baumeister, James (Camila) Morris, and Ricky (Brittany) Morris, and four great-grandchildren, Abigail, Asela, Samuel Ripley and Lylia Morris. Ken enjoyed many years camping, hiking, and rafting throughout the U.S. with his family and friends and he was an accomplished, nationally ranked tennis player. Ken earned his Doctorate in Philosophy from the University of Florida and worked for 38 distinguished years at NASA in the fields of Nuclear Physics, Vibrations, Acoustics, and Thermal Dynamics earning him the honorable Exceptional Scientific Achievement Medal, in 1986. Veteran of the US Air Force. Family will receive friends in celebration of Ken’s life at Humenik Funeral Chapel, 14200 Snow Rd, Brook Park, Thursday September 5 from 3:00 – 8:00 P.M. where Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 10:00 A.M. interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.
