age 85 of Cleveland, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2026.

Joseph is survived in Life by Ruby, his beloved wife of 32 years.

Devoted Father of Ann (Keith) (both deceased), Donna (Andrej), Joseph, Sandra (George),

Michael (deceased), James Jr., Matthew (Pamela), and Amy.

Loving Brother of Frank (deceased), Margaret (Art) (both deceased), Phyllis (George) (both deceased), and Jay (deceased) (Jenny).

Cherished Grandfather of Amy (Corey), Keith Jr. (Shelby), Danielle (Nicholas), Albert (Jaclyn), James III (Kelli), Jessica, Jillian, Joshua, Brendan, Shane, Hosea, Lily, and Emi.

Great-Grandfather of Sydney, Elly, Brinley, Maevyn, Georgia, and Miley.

Veteran of the U.S. Army.

He was a member of the Teamsters Local 507.

“Papa Joe” lived a life centered around his family, love, and the memories he created with those closest to him. After 21 years of devoted service as a machinist at Halex Co., he spent his retirement enjoying the quieter life camping and fishing at the Town & Country Campground with his beloved wife Ruby. He loved spending time with all his grandkids, and showing them how to fish and drive the golf cart around the campground. Papa also loved Halloween at the campground, dressing up, and handing out candy and baseball cards to the kids. When not camping, Papa loved attending church every Sunday at Abram Creek Baptist Church. He also loved cutting grass for the church for well over a decade. Out of all of these things, Papa loved the time he spent with his grand and great-grandchildren. Though he is no longer with us, Joseph’s love and memory will live on through those he leaves behind. He will be remembered, loved, cherished, and deeply missed.

The family will receive friends in celebration of Joseph’s life at Humenik Funeral Chapel 14200 Snow Rd., Brook park, 44142 on Thursday, September 3rd from 5-8 PM, and at Abram Creek Baptist Church 18664 Sheldon Rd., Brook Park, OH, 44142 on Friday, September 4th from 10-11 AM. Followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 AM. Immediately following the Funeral Service, we will continue to celebrate Joseph’s life with a meal at the church.

Inurnment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at a later date.

I am so sorry Ruby to hear of Joe's passing. There are so few of us left, first cousins. We have so many good memories of us growing up together. And as adults having reunions with each other and our own children. Growing up together and visiting him on his dad's farm in Shady Springs will always keep me smiling. Phyllis and I were the same age, we bonded very quickly. Especially with all those other boy cousins around. I really miss those days.

Ruby, I am so sorry to hear of Joe's passing. There are so few of our cousins remaining. I am unable to come to the funeral my health at this time isn't what it should be. I am so glad GOD gave us memories. As kids growing up we had the best time at his house playing. Phyllis was my age so we were closer. JW was younger and use to drive us crazy. My brother John, Carl and Joe were always together and getting in trouble. Those days will always be cherished and missed.

Papa Joe will always be remembered through the love and memories of all those lives he touched. We will always cherish the time he spent watching our boys grow up and attending their sporting events. He got so much joy out of watching his grandkids. Every Halloween, we looked forward to the campground, golf cart rides, trick-or-treating, and fishing. Those simple traditions created so many great memories for our family. And then there was Christmas morning—breakfast made fresh to order by "Papa Joe " himself. The house was filled with family, fun and chaos. Papa Joe created so many special memories for our family that we will carry with us forever.
