Joanne Mary Ehrman, 90, of Valley City, OH, formerly of Brook Park, OH, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at Thomas P. Perciak Family Residential Hospice home in Strongsville, Ohio. Joanne was born August 28, 1934, in Cleveland, OH, daughter of the late John Joseph Coughlin, Sr. and Josephine Ann Coughlin (nee Carroll). Surviving are two sons, Richard T. Avery Jr. (Kathleen), and William R. Avery (Gayle); one daughter, Kathleen M. Miller (Herman); Seven grandchildren, Richard T. Avery III, Michael R. Avery, Allison A. Avery-Wollenhaupt (Richard), Michael H. Avery, Mandy M. Lebus (Mark), Stefanie A. Stuart (Doug), and Andrew C. Schalabba (Hannah); and six great-grandchildren: Ashley, Hunter, Vivian, Benjamin, Wesley, and Quinn. Additionally, two brothers, Michael D. Coughlin, and William A. Coughlin (Gina); and a host of nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Joanne was preceded in death by her husband, Walter A. Ehrman; two brothers, John Joseph Coughlin, Jr., and James W. Coughlin. In addition to being a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Joanne was an elementary school teacher, Brook Park Civil Defense secretary, Catholic Church Secretary, and an avid church volunteer including being president of the church’s lady’s guild. Her selfless prayers for others truly made a difference.
The family will receive friends in celebration of Joanne’s life at the Humenik Funeral Chapel, 14200 Snow Rd, Brook Park, OH on Thursday, October 3, 2024 from 4 – 8 PM. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Friday, October 4, 2024, at Mary Queen of the Apostles Parish, 6455 Engle Rd, Brook Park, OH followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, 14609 Brookpark Road, Brook Park, OH.
