Harhalos, Elsie Vera (nee Weis), age 89 of Brook Park, passed away peacefully on March 01, 2017 while surrounded by family. Daughter of Adolf and Selma Weis (both deceased). Elsie is preceded in death by Pete, her beloved husband of 20 years. Loving mother of Kenneth and Andy (Peggy). Cherished grandmother of Pete and Mandy. Great grandmother of Jacob, Andreus and Louis. Great-great grandmother of Ezra. Dear sister of Dorothy (Roger) Harris and the following deceased: Herbert, Frieda, Ruth and Ernest. Sister-in-law to George and Helen. Aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Elsie was a proud graduate of West Tech High School class of ‘46. She retired from the U.S. Postal Service and was one of the very first lady mail carriers. She was a member of VFW Post 6676 Auxiliary and American Legion Post 610 Auxiliary. She enjoyed traveling, especially to Canada with her family. In her later years she went to swim exercise regularly, up until she became ill, and had many friends there. Elsie was a strong, independent woman who will be dearly missed.
The family will receive friends in celebration of Elsie’s life at Humenik Funeral Chapel, 14200 Snow Rd., Brook Park, 44142 on Thursday, March 9th from 5-8PM where a Trisagion Service will be officiated by Fr. Dean Dimon at 5PM. A Funeral Service will be celebrated at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 2187 West 14th St., Cleveland 44113 on Friday at 11AM. EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT THE CHURCH. Interment at St. Theodosius Orthodox Cemetery. For those who wish, Elsie suggested contributions be made to The City Mission, P.O. Box 603816, Cleveland, OH 44103 to feed the poor.
