Hassing, Edward J., Jr. age 88, peacefully went home to Heaven on November 2, 2020. Survived in life by Alice Marie (nee Mertens), his beloved wife of 66 years. Loving dad of Edward J. III (Ruth), Kathleen Sweeny (William), Mary Patricia Scalisi (Budd), and Timothy (Margaret). Cherished grandfather “Bepa” to 10 and great grandfather to 7. Son of the late Edward Sr. & Eleanor. Brother of the following deceased: John, Mary Jane Siemen & Patricia Gipper. Korean War veteran of the U. S. Navy. Retired from the Circulation Department of the Plain Dealer in 1997 after 36 years of loyal service. The family will receive friends in celebration of Edwards’s life at Humenik Funeral Chapel 14200 Snow Rd Brook Park, 44142 on Friday, November 6th from 5-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at Mary Queen of the Apostles Church, 6455 Engle Rd., Brook Park on Saturday at 12:30 PM. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. EVERYONE, PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH ON SATURDAY. Due to the COVID-19 virus, masks and social distancing restrictions will be enforced.
