Burgess, Betty June (nee Reed) was born on June 16, 1927 to George and Clara Reed in Cleveland, Ohio. On November 27, 1946 she united in marriage to Roy Oliver Burgess and together they raised three children. Betty was a consummate mother and homemaker, but after her children were raised she joined the workforce and ultimately retired from Sears. In 2011 Betty moved to Delaware, Ohio where she passed away on August 30, 2015 at the age of 88. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and siblings (Melvin G. Reed, Irene Clara Marks and Ruth Baumgardner). She is survived by her children and spouses (Sharon (Bob deceased) Canfield from Surprise, AZ; Susan (Thomas) Hughes from Cleveland, OH; Keith (Beth) Burgess from Columbus, OH; 7 loving grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and many faithful friends; Betty had many interests and hobbies but her greatest joy has always come from the time spent with family;
The family will receive friends in celebration of Betty’s life at Humenik Funeral Chapel, 14200 Snow Rd, Brook Park, on Thursday September 3rd, from 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM. A Committal Service will take place at 2:45 PM at Sunset Memorial Park.
The world will be a little dimmer without that special “Betty” smile.
