Beloved Aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Born August 19, 1934 in Harrisburg, PA. She was a daddy’s girl and her dad called her “Bobbie” and that has been her name ever since. As a child, she was a tomboy and loved sports. Her family moved around from Pennsylvania to Nutley, New Jersey, then to Marblehead Massachusetts, and Lakewood, Ohio where she attended high school and met her husband. Bobbie enjoyed playing softball, ice skating, and archery. As an adult, she bowled and golfed until she was 86 years old. In 1958, she moved to Berea and has been a long time resident there ever since.
Bobbie was a stay-at-home mom until her divorce, and then she returned back to work first at MacPherson & Company, as production control, and then worked at Bostitch, and retired from Standard Products. She loved gardening and had a beautiful yard full of flowers and fruit trees. Bobbie enjoyed helping out in the community, as a Girl Scout leader, Den Mother for Cub Scouts, and member of the school PTA. She owned and operated The American Opinion Bookstore out of her home for many years.
She loved watching Cleveland sports, the Guardians (Indians), Browns, Cavs, and Ohio State. Watching her grandkids and great-grandkids participate in all of their activities (sports, plays, music, etc.) made her very happy. She loved her family and she loved animals. Bobbie volunteered at the Animal Rescue (ARF) and also at the Friends of the Library. She worked at the election polls for many years, mostly because she loved being around people. Bobbie was involved in the Berea American Legion Auxiliary and was elected president and vice-president. She was the longest living member until she passed away. She marched in most Memorial Day parades as part of the Color Guard with the Auxiliary, and then more recently rode in the car.
Bobbie was involved with the church most of her life. She attended Lakewood Congregational Church, Madison Avenue Baptist Church, Berea Baptist, St. Brigid in Dayton, and finally, St.. Mary’s Catholic Church where she attended the remainder of her life. She sang in the choir there for over twenty years.
Bobbie was a very active woman and enjoyed her family and enjoyed life. Even at the end of her life, she was surrounded by and enjoyed seeing her friends and family.
