It’s Island Time Put-In-Bay & Kelly’s Island Thursday, July 27th
Picture this: Jet setting from one island to another. The first is Kelly’s Island, one can enjoy a leisurely historical tour. Exploring glacial grooves while riding in or driving a golf cart. Some of the sites include a winery, inscription rock, the State park and north shore. If that pace is too slow, then you can jet over to the next island, known as being a ‘party’ island. This dream is a reality, thanks to Humenik’s annual Kelly’s Island/Put in Bay trip. This one day trip starts and ends on Thursday, July 27. Our bus leaves at 7:30 a.m. from the CVS side parking lot. Not even two hours later, you will be dockside at the jet express to “jet” across to Kelly’s Island. With our approximate 9:00 a.m. arrival, the golf cart excursion/history/fun begins. A local Historian, Leslie Koreko, will give a slideshow presentation. There are many so many sites to see, including the quarry. The quarry is spectacular, an island within an island. After some free time, we hop aboard the jet express to our next island, Put in Bay, the infamous ‘party island’.
The Island boasts many attractions. These include the world’s longest bar to Perry’s Monument, a peace memorial between US and Canada after the war of 1812. For the record, it is more than a football field tall at 352 feet. Other interests of Put in Bay include a winery, a chocolate museum and an antique car museum. Take a ride on a 1917 carousel. Still not sure what to see or do? Ask one of your bus mates. Most have been to the island before. An evening meal is being planned for our group from the people at the Crew’s Nest Island Resort.
This island trip includes a Luxury Motor Coach from Baron’s Bus Lines. Jet fare for TWO Lake Erie Islands, golf carts shared by 4 or 6 individuals and Dinner at The Crew’s Nest Resort on Put in Bay. The best part? It’s only $115.00. FYI: There are many gift shops and places to eat so you may want to bring a little more spending money. We will return back to the mainland at approximately 11:00 p.m. To make reservations, please call Humenik Funeral Chapel at 216-265-8700.
New York Trip August 21st – 25th for 5 Days & 4 Nights
After a year or so of planning this trip, I think I finally got it figured out. Last year I traveled to New York City to get the lay of the land. My only problem was transportation. Well, I think I finally came up with solutions.
Our New York trip is scheduled for August 21 – 25, 2017. We depart Brook Park at 7 AM and will more than likely make two stops on the road, one for lunch on your own. We should arrive at the Edison Hotel in New York City about 4:30 PM. Baggage handling is included from the curb to the room and back to the curb on Friday. Dinner is included Monday evening, Four(4) breakfasts, a Seven(7) day pass with unlimited use of the subway and bus system, Ferry to Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island and back to Battery Park. Entrance into the 911 Museum and One World Trade Center floors 101, 102 and 103. There will also be ample free time to do whatever you may want that we will not be doing as a group. A detailed Itinerary will go out before the trip to those who register for the trip. Cost of the trip is $1,099.00 based on Double Occupancy. I need confirmation from those who are going to travel with us ASAP. Deadline is July 15. I have to commit to the Hotel rooms by that date and begin to acquire tickets.
It was suggested we get tickets to see Kelly Rippa “Live”. Great idea! Difficult to do. You can only get individual tickets up to 8 tickets per person. If we have 40 people traveling with us, five people would have to get 8 tickets each online. Tickets for “Live” for the dates we are traveling are not even available yet. I would like to do at least one show while in New York. I also came across a Musical called Bandstand. The storyline starts in 1945 America. As America’s soldiers come home to ticker tape parades and overjoyed families, Private First Class Donny Novitski, singer and songwriter, returns to rebuild his life with only the shirt on his back and a dream in his heart. When NBC announces a national competition to find the nation’s next great musical superstars, Inspiration strikes! Donny joins forces with a motley group of fellow veterans, each an astonishing musician. Together, they form a band unlike any the nation has ever seen. Along the way, they discover the power of music to face the impossible, find their voice and finally feel like they have a place to call home. I can get these group tickets for about $62.00 each.
