Raymond “Ray” Townsend

February 24, 1930 - June 11, 2025

age 95 of Brook Park, born February 24, 1930, to William Jefferson “Willie” and Flora Humphres Townsend in the Burnout Community of Vina, AL, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2025.

Ray was preceded in death by Margie, his beloved wife of 71 years, siblings Opal Klatt, Evangeline Hughes, Nell Hall, Everett, Eugene, and Eutrene.

Survived by his children Doris June, David Ray (Michele), and Donna Leigh (Ron) Kuhn, and sister Margaret Sue Fikes.

Cherished Grandfather of Jessica Kuhn, Alexander Kuhn (Rachael Pratt), Olivia Kuhn, and Kelsey Kuhn.

Beloved Uncle to many nieces and nephews and a friend to many.

Ray was a veteran of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and to honor Raymond’s life and wishes, the family will have a private celebration at Humenik Funeral Chapel on Friday, June 13, 2025, followed by a graveside service at Woodvale Cemetery.

Rip Ray, I loved the talks we used to have in the machine shop, during lunch at Demag. Love ❤️.

Worked with Ray as a foreman at Demag back in the 70's. Great guy, enjoyed our lunches together. Can remember he would order a Whopper from Burger King and tell them to hold the meat. Will miss him. God Bless. Condolences to the family
