age 87, of Strongsville, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2025, surrounded by family.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by Pat, her beloved husband of 34 years. She was the devoted mother of Patrick Carney (deceased), Ann (Andrew) Dudash, Mary Bridget Danko (John Dempsey), and Eileen (Timothy) Healy; loving sister of Emil Ondrasek (deceased) and Michael (Karen) Ondrasek; and cherished grandmother of Joshua Carney, Matthew Carney, Melanie (Zack) Bernas, Meredith Danko (Tim See), Rachel Dudash, Abbey Dudash (Tanner Rutherford), Andrew (Alyssa) Dudash, Jack (Maira) Healy, Moira Healy (Matthew Dies), Quinn Healy, and Molly Healy. She was also a proud great-grandmother of Peyton, Elizabeth, Jane, Charlie, and Cordelia. She was a beloved sister-in-law and aunt to many nieces and nephews, and a friend to many.
Mary Ann’s early years were rooted in deep connections with family and community. Growing up in a double-decker home, with renters above and her aunt’s family nearby, she was never far from a friendly face. She treasured her years at Lourdes Academy, where she formed lifelong friendships.
At the age of 18, she fell in love with Pat, the love of her life, and together they built a home filled with warmth and tradition. “When they made him, they broke the mold,” she often said of her husband. They raised their children in Parma Heights, where dinner was always served at 5:30 PM sharp, marked by her ringing a large wrought-iron triangle. Saturdays often meant homemade pizza, and each season brought specialty treats like plum cake made from the fruit of the backyard tree. Mary Ann was a nature-lover who took pride in her garden, filled with lilacs, peonies, and sweet peas. She volunteered frequently at her children’s school and was a passionate volleyball coach for many years.
Mary Ann and Pat worked hard to give their family memorable vacations, from camping adventures in a pop-up Scamper to beach trips along the Outer Banks. Later in life, she continued to travel, taking several cruises and visiting Ireland and Italy. Once her children were grown, Mary Ann pursued work as a sales assistant, finding particular joy in leading cooking demonstrations. She filled her home with toys and games for her grandchildren, and they loved to listen to her play the piano, her cheerful singing filling every corner of the house.
Mary Ann was strong, feisty, and opinionated, with a great sense of humor. Her laughter was contagious. She loved theater, art, music, and dancing (especially the jitterbug). She had an eye for fashion and was always on the lookout for new clothing, jewelry, and shoes – particularly at a bargain. She is remembered with gratitude by her family, and her holiday traditions will live on through them for many years to come.
Her family extends deep thanks to the staff at Shurmer Place, Altenheim Nursing Facility, and Cypress Hospice for their loving care.
The family will receive friends in celebration of Mary Ann’s life at Humenik Funeral Chapel, 14200 Snow Rd., Brook Park, on Thursday, November 20, from 3–5 and 6–8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Ignatius of Antioch Catholic Church, 10205 Lorain Ave., Cleveland, on Friday, November 21, at 10:00 AM.
