CHARLES A. “SKIP” BENDER age 78 passed away peacefully December 10, 2018 while surrounded by family. He will always be loved and forever missed. Skip is survived in life by Betty (nee Zanyi), his devoted wife of 51 years. Loving father of John (Dawn), Dustin (Sandi), Ryan and Shane (Jennifer). Dear brother of Carol (Wayne) Gutgleck, James “Jim” (Barb), Phillip (Laurel) and Judith (deceased) Salsgiver. Brother-in-law of Ray (Mary) Zanyi and Jean Zanyi. Cherished grandfather of Cole, Katrina, and Faine, step grandfather to Joseph Reisinger. Uncle to many.
Veteran of U.S. Air Force Vietnam. 32nd Degree Mason at Olmsted Falls Lodge 705, Member of AMVETS Post 17, VFW Post 237 Sandusky and Eagles Post 444 Sandusky.
The family will receive friends in celebration of Skip’s life at Humenik Funeral Chapel, 14200 Snow Rd., Brook Park, 44142 on Thursday, December 13th from 4-8PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at Mary Queen of the Apostles Church, 6455 Engle Rd., Brook Park on Friday at 9:30AM. For those who wish, the family suggests contributions to Brook Park Food Bank, located at Brook Park Community Church 16845 Holland Rd Brook Park, OH 44142 or a charity of your choice.
