Happy New Year!

All of us at Humenik Funeral Chapel wish you the happiest of New Years. We know that for
many of us, the holidays are a time of sadness having lost those we love so dear. We can certainly empathize with that. As the saying goes, “life is changed, not ended.” That phrase holds true for our loved one, AND also for us who survive. There are many things still left for us to enjoy in life, and that is the mission of our Humenik’s Highlights newsletter.

We are happy to inform you that due to popular demand, our newsletter will return to regular
publication. You can look forward to finding our newsletter in your mailbox on a monthly, or at most a bi-monthly basis. For those with computers (or children and grandchildren with computers), we are also in the process of building an e-mail database. Please enter an e-mail address to receive your newsletter electronically. We will also be posting our newsletter on our website and Facebook pages listed above. It’s a digital world, these alternative news outlets are here to stay. We strongly encourage you to take advantage of these services.

Our first trip will be to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. We will “lift off” from the Humenik parking lot on Friday April 19, 2013. Boarding of our luxury motorcoach will be at 6AM, with departure at 6:15 sharp! For those who would like to tour the Restoration Facility, you must register online ASAP at www.nationalmuseum.af.mil Click on Groups and Tours on the left side menu. Proceed to Behind the Scenes. Click on April 19, 2013. 30 is the maximum number of guests for that tour. You may register for the Presidential hangar tour w/photo I.D. at the museum on the day of the tour. Lunch will be on your own. Following our day at the Museum, we’ll head for home stopping at the Historic Red Brick Tavern for a sumptuous supper. The restaurant is Ohio’s second oldest stagecoach stop recreating the warmth and ambiance of bygone eras. We will return to HFC by 11PM.

Washington D.C. is one of those places you’d love to go to, but would never go on your own. So let’s go together! In mid to late June, plan on spending 4 days and 3 nights in our nation’s capital. The monuments, the mall, the memorials, Arlington, Mt. Vernon, and much more. Let us know today that you’re interested in joining us.

“Start spreading the news…” we will “be a part of it, New York, New York” in mid-August. This will be another multi-day trip. We just wanted to “whet your appetite” to let you know what’s coming down the road this year. Please reply if interested in this trip as well. In 2013, we’re “On the Road Again!”

In case you haven’t been to the funeral home recently, we want to introduce you to some of
the new things that have taken place over the past year. First of all, we have a new member on staff, Matthew Humenik. It has created a bit of confusion with telephone callers because we now have two Matt’s in the office. Matt O’Donnell is our Apprentice Funeral Director, and Matt Humenik is our Office Associate, Social Media Director, and General maintenance man for the facility. He brings enthusiasm and some young blood to our facility. Be sure to meet him the next time you’re here.

Secondly, we have made some updates to the facility. In the large visitation room, we combined a fresh coat of paint along with wallpaper below the chair rail. These are subtle changes, but they bring a new warmth to the room. Another thing you’ll notice in the visitation room are two large 55” flat screen monitors. These monitors each have a DVD player so that visitors can enjoy the slideshow from anywhere in the room. There is no need to be huddled around a small screen on a table.

A third item is an innovation which has become a popular option for our families. When we have families having visitation from 2-4 and 6-8 we invite the immediate family to stay with us between calling hours, and we provide a catered meal for them so that they can get off their feet, enjoy a nice meal, have some downtime, and not have to worry about where they’re going to eat, who’s car are they’re driving, and how soon they have to get back.

Fourthly, we have initiated a new service for our families who purchase their casket and burial vault from us. We offer our 8 passenger limousine at no additional cost. Many families would like to purchase the use of a limo, but it’s often on the “chopping block” of extra expenses. We offer this service as a way of giving our families the best value for dollars spent.

Finally, we just wanted you to know that we’re still here for you, our families and friends. As the New Year begins, we hope that you’ll be able to find peace, happiness, and joy once again. Here’s an answer to the famous New Year’s Day song, “Should old acquaintance be forgot…” Send a newsletter!
